The Nigeria Football Federation has come out strongly against the racist abuse targeted at Super Falcons player Esther Okoronkwo by some individuals from Morocco. This backlash follows an incident of theft at the team's hotel in Casablanca, where the Marriott Hotel was the scene of the crime. According to reports, the person responsible for the theft was apprehended, and the stolen money was fully recovered. The suspect was subsequently sentenced to six months in prison. Despite the resolution of the theft incident, Okoronkwo became the subject of racist abuse and offensive emojis on social media, which the NFF has vehemently denounced. In a statement, the NFF expressed its strong condemnation of the racist abuse, stating that it makes no sense, especially given that the individual responsible for the theft was caught and punished. The NFF reiterated its commitment to protecting the safety and dignity of its players, emphasizing that the team remains focused on its objectives. The Super Falcons are set to begin their title defense at the WAFCON 2026 against Malawi at the Al Medina Stadium in Rabat.
