In a significant crackdown on crime, the Ogun State Police Command has apprehended two individuals suspected of being part of a cattle theft syndicate. This arrest followed a distress call received by the Sagamu Division of the police, reporting the theft of seven cows from a cattle yard in the Maskoli area of Sagamu. According to DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the command's spokesperson, the police acted swiftly upon receiving the report, mobilizing operatives to conduct coordinated patrols around identified exit routes. Their efforts led to the interception of suspicious vehicles along the Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode Expressway, resulting in the arrest of Abiodun Kamilu, 35, and Adesanya Segun, 37. The police were able to recover six of the seven stolen cows, as well as the operational vehicle used by the suspects, which was abandoned during their attempted escape. The command has stated that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate, recover the remaining cow, and prosecute all those connected to the crime. In a separate incident, operatives from the Safer Highway Patrol Team foiled a suspected abduction attempt on July 26 along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at Onigaari. The police responded promptly to gunshots heard in the area, forcing the would-be abductors to flee into the nearby bush. The intended victim was rescued unharmed and escorted to the Ogunmakin Police Post for safety and further police procedures. The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the professionalism and vigilance of the officers involved in both operations, stating that these successes reflect the command's enhanced operational capacity and commitment to tackling criminal activities. Ojajuni reassured the public that the command remains in control of the security situation across the state and will continue to strengthen intelligence gathering, visibility policing, and strategic patrols. He urged the public to remain vigilant and support the police with timely and credible information, assuring them that all actionable reports will receive prompt attention.
