Osun Police Probe Cult-Related Murder of 40-Year-Old Man Found Dead in Car

The Osun State Police Command has commenced a thorough investigation into the murder of a 40-year-old man, Abayomi David, whose body was discovered inside a vehicle in Osogbo. According to police sources, the incident was reported at approximately 12:15 a.m. on July 25, 2026, after the lifeless body of the victim was found inside a Toyota Camry with Lagos registration number LND 468 HL along Alatori Road, Olude, Osogbo. Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dugbe Division immediately led a team of detectives to the scene, where they found the vehicle's engine still running and recovered nine expended ammunition shells around the vicinity, indicating that the victim was shot at close range. The police have taken photographs of the crime scene and evacuated the body to the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital Mortuary, Osogbo, for an autopsy. Although the police suspect that the murder may be connected to cult-related violence, they are still investigating to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the killing. The command has intensified efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the murder, with surveillance and monitoring ongoing.
