Rivers Police Smash Notorious Kidnapping Gang, Rescue Abducted Woman

In a daring operation, the Rivers State Police Command has successfully apprehended four suspected members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate and rescued the victim, Mrs. Ikechukwu, who was abducted from her shop. According to reports, Mrs. Ikechukwu, 35, was taken away by armed men on Saturday, July 11, 2026, while attending to customers. The kidnappers used a white tinted mini-bus to whisk her away. Following a report by her husband, Mr. Ikechukwu, the Police swiftly launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of the suspected kidnappers. The arrested suspects are Owhor Chinedu, 42, from Onelga Local Government; Isioto Waribok, 30, from Addoni Local Government; Maduabuchi Emeka, 34, from Onelga; and Joe Karachi, 28, from Onelga Local Government Area, Rivers State. The Police recovered a white mini-bus used in the abduction. Preliminary investigations reveal that all four suspects have confessed to their roles in the crime. The Police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the two remaining members of the syndicate who are currently at large and to recover the firearms used during the operation. The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, directed the operation, which was carried out by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) Rivers State.
