The remains of a 27-year-old commercial motorcyclist, believed to have been murdered by individuals suspected of stealing motorcycles, have been located by personnel from Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) in Plateau State's Mangu Local Government Area. According to security sources, the discovery occurred around 6:15 a.m. on June 30. This followed a response by troops from Sector 8, Sub-Sector 81, Gyambwas, to a report concerning a deceased person found between Angwan Baraya and Sagani villages.

These sources detailed that the OPEP troops, collaborating with officers from the Keystone Gindiri Division of the police, reached the site to find the victim's body showing numerous machete wounds. A subsequent search of the vicinity resulted in the retrieval of a mobile phone, thought to be the property of the deceased.

Utilizing the recovered phone, security operatives managed to reach Mr. Muhammadu Sheko, the victim's father. He subsequently identified the deceased as Haruna Muhammadu, aged 27, a resident of Changal Village within Mangu Local Government Area. Initial inquiries suggest that Haruna, a commercial motorcyclist, had recently acquired a new motorcycle. It is suspected he was then ambushed and killed by individuals who subsequently absconded with his new bike.

Following the discovery, police officers from the Keystone Gindiri Division transported the body, which was then handed over to the family for burial rites. Security sources affirmed that active efforts are underway to locate and arrest those behind this murder and motorcycle theft. They also appealed to the public to consistently supply security agencies with prompt and reliable intelligence to aid in curbing violent crimes across the state.
