A Federal High Court in Abuja, on July 1, has ordered the execution by hanging for Jonathan Marcus, who was found guilty of the brutal murder of his former employer, 80-year-old Adebola Ezekiel, and his wife, Mrs. Abiodun Ezekiel. The horrific incident took place at the couple's residence located in the Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja, on April 1, 2024.

Following the discovery of the tragic event, law enforcement agencies initiated a comprehensive investigation. This led to Marcus's arrest in Obajana, Kogi State, where he had gone into hiding after committing the crime. During police questioning, the suspect confessed to gaining unauthorized entry into the deceased couple's home around 11:00 p.m. on April 1, 2024, before proceeding to murder them.

Further inquiries revealed that Marcus had previously been employed by the Ezekiels as their driver but was dismissed from his position due to recurring disagreements with his employers. The case was subsequently presented before the FCT High Court, where the Command diligently pursued the prosecution.

After carefully considering the evidence put forward by the prosecution and listening to the arguments from both counsels, Hon. Justice M. S. Idris of the FCT High Court concluded that the prosecution had established its case beyond any reasonable doubt. Consequently, the Court found Jonathan Marcus guilty and condemned him to death by hanging for the murders of Mr. Adebola Ezekiel and Mrs. Abiodun Ezekiel.

Reacting to the judgment, the FCT Police Command, through a statement released by its spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, reassured the residents of the FCT. The statement affirmed the Command's unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property and ensuring that all individuals who commit crimes are brought to justice in line with the law.
