Tinubu coup plot suspects remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre

Five individuals have been brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja by the Department of State Services (DSS) on charges related to allegedly hiding former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva. Sylva himself faces accusations of orchestrating a coup plot targeting President Bola Tinubu.
The DSS formally charged the defendants, identified as Reuben Ayuba, Musa Mohammed, Friday Paul, Paganengigha Anagaha, and Ayebaifife Suobite, with engaging in a conspiracy and actively concealing the location of a person declared fugitive. Each of the accused entered a plea of not guilty during their court appearance.
Presiding over the case, Justice Peter Lifu granted bail to each defendant, setting the amount at ₦5 million with the requirement of two sureties, each for the same sum. However, the court mandated their detention at the Kuje Correctional Centre until these bail conditions are fully met. The proceedings have been adjourned, with the trial scheduled to commence on July 22, 2026.
