Suspected terrorists have once again cast a shadow of fear over Kaduna State, carrying out the abduction of six Almajiri pupils in the Unguwar Gere community of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. Local intelligence sources reported that the attackers stormed the village around 6:30 PM on Wednesday, intercepting the young students as they made their way back from a nearby farm. The pupils were reportedly on the verge of entering the community when they were seized.

In a swift display of communal resilience, residents from surrounding settlements, bolstered by soldiers stationed at the Supa Camp in Kuyallo, quickly mobilized. They engaged the invaders in a confrontation, a move that compelled the terrorists to retreat. Despite being repelled, the assailants managed to flee with the six abducted Almajiri pupils. SaharaReporters identified the kidnapped children as Abdul Mali Malam, Al Amin Biyar, Abdurrahman Sama Ila, Jamilu Malam, Usumanu Bilya, and Abdul Ganiyu Samaila. As of this report, security agencies have not released any official statement concerning the incident, though efforts to secure the children's release are said to be ongoing.

This latest incident follows closely on the heels of another violent episode in Birnin Gwari just days prior. SaharaReporters had previously reported that bandits, curiously described as 'repentant,' launched an attack on Monday morning, resulting in the killing of an unspecified number of farmers and the abduction of approximately 20 others. A source within Birnin Gwari, confirming the attack to SaharaReporters, stated that it occurred around 11 AM in Layin Danauta village. The source detailed how the bandits assaulted farmlands situated north of the village, opening fire on farmers in a "guerrilla-style" assault. Preliminary figures indicated that seven women and about 15 men were taken captive during that attack, with several farmers also sustaining injuries. Local residents and volunteers continued search and recovery operations late into the night following the earlier assault.
