Adamawa APM Gubernatorial Race: Ex-NNPCL Manager Safriel Glah Named Haske's Running Mate

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has officially announced Safriel Glah, a retired senior executive from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), as the running mate for its Adamawa State governorship candidate, Abdulrahman Haske, ahead of the 2027 election. Glah was formally presented as the party’s deputy governorship candidate during a media briefing held in Abuja on Monday.

The APM stated that this ticket is strategically designed to combine Haske’s extensive private-sector background with Glah’s over three decades of experience in public service and the oil and gas industry.

Speaking at the unveiling event, Haske described Glah's selection as a deliberate decision based on her competence, integrity, vast experience, and a proven track record of service. He remarked, “Today marks an important milestone in our collective vision for a more prosperous and forward-looking Adamawa State. In Safriel Glah, we have found a partner whose distinguished career embodies excellence, discipline, professionalism and selfless service.”

Haske further highlighted that while his own professional journey has been shaped by entrepreneurship, investment, and leadership in the private sector, Glah brings profound experience in public administration, engineering management, environmental governance, and institutional leadership.

“Our partnership represents a convergence of complementary strengths. While I have spent years building businesses, creating opportunities and promoting enterprise, Glah has built an outstanding record in public administration, policy implementation and strategic leadership. Together, we offer Adamawa a competent, balanced and results-oriented team dedicated to transforming the fortunes of our state,” he stated. He added that this fusion of public-sector experience and private-sector innovation would provide a robust framework for economic growth, job creation, improved service delivery, and shared prosperity within the state.

Safriel Glah dedicated over 34 years to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, retiring as the General Manager and Head of Environment, Health, Safety and Environment at NNPCL. A Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, she is also widely recognized for her contributions in engineering, sustainability initiatives, leadership development, and community service.

In her acceptance speech, Glah expressed profound gratitude to the party leadership and the people of Adamawa State for the trust placed in her. She said, “I stand before you today humbled and profoundly grateful as I accept the responsibility of serving as the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement alongside my principal and Governorship Candidate, Hon. Abdulrahman Bashir Haske. I deeply appreciate the confidence placed in me and the privilege to serve.”

The former NNPCL official emphasized that her professional journey had instilled in her the understanding that effective leadership necessitates responsibility, teamwork, and tangible results. “As Deputy Governorship Candidate, I will support my principal, complement his leadership and work with our team to promote a vision of inclusive development, opportunity, accountability and sustainable progress for Adamawa State,” she assured.

Glah further stated that politics should serve as a platform for unity rather than division, reaffirming her steadfast commitment to the ticket and the citizens of Adamawa. “I pledge my loyalty, cooperation and dedication as we undertake this journey together. To the people of Adamawa State, I am ready to listen, ready to work and ready to serve,” she declared.

Concurrently, Yusuf Dantalle, the APM National Chairman, and Badejo Bello, the Adamawa State Chairman of the party, both praised the Haske-Glah ticket as a formidable combination of experience and private-sector acumen. Dantalle highlighted that the party deliberately assembled a ticket that merges Haske’s entrepreneurial drive, innovation, and economic vision with Glah’s extensive background in public service, policy implementation, and institutional leadership. Similarly, Bello asserted that Glah’s emergence would significantly bolster the party’s campaign, noting that her public-sector career and management expertise perfectly complement Haske’s background in business, youth empowerment, and enterprise development.

The APM confirmed that the Haske-Glah ticket would primarily focus on economic growth, effective governance, and inclusive development in preparation for the 2027 Adamawa governorship election.
