Alex Otti Invites Investors Back to Abia, Highlights Business-Friendly Reforms

Full Story
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has extended an invitation to both former and potential investors, urging them to return to the state and leverage the improved business climate established by his administration. Speaking on Sunday during the inauguration of a new hospitality complex in Aba, a project spearheaded by a private investor, Governor Otti asserted that his government has dedicated the past three years to cultivating an environment conducive to attracting investment.
The Governor highlighted that ongoing advancements in infrastructure and enhancements to the overall business landscape have created fresh avenues for investment. He attributed the significant transformation witnessed across Abia, especially in Aba, to deliberate strategies by his administration aimed at resolving long-standing infrastructural deficiencies and fostering an environment where enterprises can flourish. Otti referenced the deplorable state of Port Harcourt Road in Aba prior to his tenure, noting that his government has since cleared obstructions, removed debris, and rehabilitated the thoroughfare. This, he added, is part of broader infrastructural initiatives designed to open up the city and stimulate economic activities.
According to Governor Otti, the widespread launch of infrastructural projects across the state is set to further unlock numerous investment prospects for individuals and corporate entities. He therefore encouraged investors and other residents who had previously departed Aba to reconsider and capitalize on the opportunities emerging from the city's ongoing revitalization. "Time is ripe for investment in Abia," Otti declared, cautioning that those who procrastinate might encounter difficulties in securing investment opportunities once others have claimed the available space. He gave assurances that the state government remains committed to providing the necessary infrastructure and a supportive environment for businesses and investments to thrive.
Regarding the newly commissioned hotel, Governor Otti lauded the investor and Chief Executive Officer of ORIS Signature Hotel, Owelle Greg Okafor, for his commitment to Aba. He emphasized that the venture would generate employment and significantly contribute to the state's economic expansion. Otti remarked, "This is going to add to the employment of Abia people, which is the number one priority for us. By the fact that it is going to also add to our Gross Domestic Product, reduce poverty, increase the Internally Generated Revenue, and provide comfort to travelers and lodgers."
