AI Robot That Promises 'Unconditional Love' Sparks Global Debate

A Chinese tech company has unveiled an AI-powered humanoid companion robot designed to combat loneliness, claiming it is the first of its kind. The lifelike robots are marketed as offering owners "unconditional love" through natural conversations, emotional recognition, and long-term companionship.
The robots are fully customizable and can be made to look and sound like a loved one. They are primarily targeted at single adults, the elderly, and people living alone. Prices range from 119,800 yuan (about $17,000) for the basic model to 990,000 yuan (about $138,000) for premium custom versions.
While many see the innovation as a breakthrough in tackling loneliness, psychologists have warned against using technology to mimic human relationships. Experts say emotional dependence on AI companions could blur the line between real and artificial connections, potentially harming users' mental health and increasing social isolation.
Would you buy one, or do you believe nothing can replace genuine human connection?
