Cole Palmer Commits Long-Term Future to Chelsea, New Deal Until 2034

Full Story
Chelsea Football Club has secured the services of England forward Cole Palmer with a new contract extension, ensuring his stay at Stamford Bridge until 2034. The 24-year-old was initially under contract with the Premier League giants until 2033, and this improved agreement adds an additional year to his tenure.
Expressing his delight, Palmer stated, "Chelsea means a lot to me and I think the club is going in the right direction, so I’m delighted to sign and I’m obviously very happy." He further elaborated on the confidence he gained from the club's hierarchy, saying, "Speaking to the owners, to the sporting directors and obviously the manager, they gave me a lot of confidence, so it was only right to sign." Palmer also highlighted the shared aspirations within the squad: "Speaking to players as well, everyone has the same ambitions. I feel like we win major trophies here consistently and I want to be a part of that and play a big role in it, too.”
Palmer made the switch to Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023. Since arriving in West London, he has reportedly contributed a combined 91 goals and assists across 138 appearances. Last season, the forward grappled with a persistent groin injury, which controversially led to his exclusion from the World Cup squad by then-England boss Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel had also commented that Palmer "missed too many opportunities" to represent England following his withdrawal from the recent Nations League fixtures.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, speaking on Friday, came to Palmer's defence, asserting that his star player remains dedicated to England and only requires full fitness to showcase his best form for both club and country. Palmer has commenced the current season impressively, netting four goals in seven appearances across all competitions. His strong bond with Morgan Rogers was also instrumental in convincing the England midfielder to join Chelsea from Aston Villa during the recent transfer window.
This new contract for Palmer extends the trend of Chelsea securing their key players with long-term deals stretching into the 2030s, following similar agreements recently signed by Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto.
