Ex-Barcelona Gaffer Ronald Koeman Bereaved as Wife Passes On

Ronald Koeman, the erstwhile head coach for both Barcelona and the Netherlands national team, has publicly shared the sorrowful news of his wife, Bartina Koeman's, passing. The revelation came via a poignant Instagram post from Koeman on Wednesday, where he affectionately referred to Bartina as his 'beautiful wife' and the cherished 'dearest mother and grandmother' of their family.

In his moving message, Koeman stated, 'With intense sadness, but also with great pride and love, we say goodbye to my beautiful wife, our dearest mother and grandmother.'

Following Bartina’s demise, FC Barcelona extended its sympathies to Koeman and his loved ones. The club’s official statement read: 'FC Barcelona and its supporters send their deepest condolences and affection to Ronald Koeman and his family for the passing of his wife, Bartina Koeman. May she rest in peace.'

The Dutch national football team similarly honored Bartina's memory and conveyed its support to Koeman, along with his children, grandchildren, and other relatives. Their message conveyed, 'We wish Ronald, their (grand)children, family, and other loved ones a great deal of strength and support in the face of this great loss.'

Koeman, aged 63, holds a significant place in Dutch football history, having had an illustrious career as a player before transitioning into a successful managerial role. His coaching stints include leading Barcelona from 2020 to 2021, as well as managing the Netherlands national squad, Everton, Southampton, Ajax, and numerous other prominent clubs.

Ronald and Bartina Koeman shared a marital bond spanning several decades and are parents to three children. The family has respectfully requested privacy during this period of bereavement.
