Gakpo's precise pass found Isak at the edge of the box, and while his shot carried significant power, the imposing figure of Scherpen arguably should have done better than parrying it into the net. Moments later, Isak capitalized on Gakpo's through ball, slotting it in at the near post as Scherpen found himself out of position. Isak had previously scored a hat-trick at Portman Road for Newcastle two seasons prior and nearly achieved his first treble in Liverpool colors.
