Mother, 47, Barefoot and in Sari, Clinches Marathon Victory for Daughter's Fees

Against all odds, a 47-year-old mother, Ramabai Ranveer, triumphed in a recent marathon, outperforming younger and seemingly stronger competitors. Remarkably, she achieved this feat while running barefoot and dressed in a sari, overcoming participants equipped with modern sports attire and specialised running shoes.

Her race began with her wearing slippers, but as they repeatedly came loose and hindered her progress, she quickly took them off. Undeterred, Ramabai continued the race, clutching her slippers in her hands and completing the remainder of the course without footwear.

Hailing from Ambajogai in Maharashtra's Beed district, India, this determined mother has become a beacon of inspiration, showcasing immense resolve and a profound dedication to securing her children's educational future.

Her participation was in the 'Amrit Daud,' an event held as part of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, orchestrated by the Kholeshwar Educational Complex under the Bharatiya Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha. Upon winning the race, she was awarded a cash prize of Rs 3,000, which she intends to dedicate entirely towards funding her daughter's schooling.

The marathon saw a significant turnout, with numerous local youths, both male and female, taking part. Ramabai arrived at the competition venue dressed in a humble sari and simple slippers. She blended in with the other contestants, and initially, there was no sign that she would be the one to claim victory.

From the onset, she ran with remarkable resolve. Yet, during the race, her slippers began to dislodge, impacting her speed. Rather than pausing or quitting, she quickly took them off, held them, and pressed on, bare feet pounding the ground until she crossed the finish line. Her inspiring win evoked strong emotions from both spectators and event organisers, who collectively celebrated her unwavering determination and profound commitment to her daughters' educational pursuits.
