Real Madrid maintained their flawless start to the La Liga season under manager Jose Mourinho, securing a resounding 4-0 triumph over Malaga on Sunday. The encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu saw Los Blancos establish a commanding lead early on, netting three goals within a swift ten-minute period during the first half against their Andalusian visitors.

England international Jude Bellingham initiated the scoring, followed by an unfortunate own goal from Malaga’s goalkeeper, Alfonso Herrero. French superstar Kylian Mbappe then added his name to the scoresheet before Arda Guler sealed the victory with a late tap-in.

Having already secured two wins in their initial two fixtures, and with key players like Mbappe, Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior showing impressive form, Madrid entered the match brimming with confidence. Mourinho opted for squad rotation, implementing five changes from the starting XI of their previous games. This saw Trent Alexander-Arnold and Marc Cucurella make their first starts of the current campaign.

Bellingham broke the deadlock in the 19th minute with a superb individual effort, skillfully evading two defenders before striking the ball powerfully through Herrero’s legs. Just seven minutes later, Bellingham played a crucial role in the second goal. After Herrero managed to parry an attempt from Mbappe, Bellingham headed the rebound towards goal. Despite defender Carlos Puga’s desperate attempt to clear off the line, the ball unfortunately deflected off Herrero and into the net.

Mbappe then emphatically volleyed home the third goal from Alexander-Arnold’s precise cross, marking his fourth goal of the season and positioning him at the top of Spain’s scoring charts.

Newly promoted Malaga did create some chances before the break, with Rafa Rodriguez striking the post from a corner and Chupe sending a shot into the side netting. However, Madrid comfortably controlled the second half, eventually extending their advantage when Vinicius Junior set up Arda Guler for a close-range finish.

Elsewhere in the league, reigning champions Barcelona are scheduled to host Rayo Vallecano on Monday for their third match, having also enjoyed comfortable victories in their opening fixtures.
