Cagliari's Yael Trepy in Intensive Care After Sardinian Pool Incident

Yael Trepy, the young French striker currently playing for Italian club Cagliari, is presently receiving treatment in intensive care following an incident where he reportedly lost consciousness in a swimming pool located in Sardinia. According to a report by the Sardinian publication Unione Sarda, Trepy was transported via air ambulance to a medical facility on Sunday afternoon after the occurrence at a private villa. On Monday, Cagliari Football Club issued an official statement confirming that their 20-year-old player is under medical supervision at the Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari.
Cagliari’s statement further conveyed, "The club maintains continuous communication with the hospital and the player's family, diligently tracking the development of his medical state." The club also expressed its solidarity, adding, "Currently, the entire Cagliari Calcio community extends its thoughts to Yael and his family." They also appealed for discretion, stating, "The club respectfully asks for maximum privacy for the family during this period and will issue further updates as they become accessible."
This incident occurred after the Cagliari squad had been granted a break for the weekend, having secured a 1-0 victory against Arezzo in the Coppa Italia on Friday. Trepy had featured in that match for 54 minutes. Born in France, Trepy commenced his football journey within the youth academy of US Creteil-Lusitanos, a club situated in Paris. Cagliari secured the services of the promising attacker in 2022, and he subsequently made his debut with the senior team last season, registering one goal across eight Serie A appearances.
