Heavyweight boxing superstar, Anthony Joshua, a Nigerian-British national, has publicly stated that his recent triumph against Kristian Prenga serves as a heartfelt tribute to his departed friends and coaches, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele. Joshua impressively secured a second-round knockout, overcoming two significant knockdowns earlier in the fight.

This particular fight, which was streamed online, was Joshua's inaugural appearance in the ring following a tragic vehicle accident in Ogun State, Nigeria, last December. That unfortunate incident resulted in the fatalities of Ghami, who served as his strength and conditioning coach, and Ayodele, his personal trainer.

To honor his late mentors, Joshua stepped into the arena adorned in camouflage gear, which prominently displayed their names. Following his win, the former world heavyweight champion articulated that this victory was a poignant homage to their enduring memory.

Despite being the clear favorite entering the match, Joshua faced a challenging start in the first round, as Prenga sent him to the canvas twice within the initial three minutes. Nevertheless, the British pugilist demonstrated remarkable resilience, regrouping to take control of the fight. He ultimately halted the Albanian opponent in the second round, thereby maintaining his trajectory towards a much-anticipated clash with his compatriot, Tyson Fury.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, commended the former champion's fortitude, characterizing his ring display as extraordinary considering the immense personal grief he had recently experienced.
