Michael Kayode Commits Long-Term Future to Brentford Until 2032

British-Nigerian professional footballer, Michael Kayode, has officially put pen to paper on an extended long-term deal with Premier League outfit, Brentford. This development comes just a year after the versatile full-back initially joined 'The Bees' from Italian club Fiorentina in a transfer reportedly valued at €18 million.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Kayode is set to remain with Brentford until June 2032, with the club holding an additional option to prolong his stay for another year. The 21-year-old expressed immense satisfaction following the signing of his new contract.
“I feel like this club is a family, so I wanted to continue my journey here. I have amazing relationships that make me really like coming in for the morning to train and have fun with my team-mates, the staff and all the people around,” Kayode shared on the club’s official website. He further added, “Ever since I joined the club, everything has been amazing. It feels like I’ve been playing for Brentford for 10 years. I’ve improved a lot on the pitch and outside of the pitch. That’s really important for me.”
Brentford's head coach, Keith Andrews, also lauded the young defender's impact. “Michael had an amazing season last year. He epitomised everything good that we do. His development and evolution has been really, really impressive,” Andrews stated. He continued, “Michael’s someone that we love working with every single day, who comes in with such an enthusiastic demeanour, and is a joy to be around and to coach. We’re absolutely delighted that he wants to stay because we love having him here, and this new contract is absolutely deserved.”
Kayode initially arrived at Brentford on a loan deal in January 2025, with the option to make the move permanent for €18 million, which was activated last summer. In his debut full season in England, the talented player made 44 appearances across various competitions, netting one goal and providing two assists. His impressive performances also earned him a nomination for the prestigious Premier League Young Player of the Season award.
