The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially extended its felicitations to the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, following his inclusion in the Presidential Campaign Council list for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027. The updated roster for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the upcoming general election, which became public on Tuesday, features several prominent political figures.
Notable members on this revised list include the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke; Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori; former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola; and the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, alongside Governor Soludo. President Bola Tinubu is designated to chair the campaign council, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, serving as vice-chairmen.
In a statement released by Ejimofor Opara, APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, the party articulated that Governor Soludo’s appointment is a clear demonstration of his exemplary leadership qualities, his unwavering dedication to progressive ideals, and his consistent advocacy for a strategic partnership between APGA and the Federal Government. This alliance, the party emphasized, is intended to foster the collective well-being of Ndi Anambra and Ndigbo at large.
Ejimofor underscored Governor Soludo’s guiding principle that ‘Progressives are Working Together,’ asserting that it is not merely a catchphrase but a factual statement rooted in history. He elaborated that APGA, recognized as Nigeria’s first truly progressive political party, shares a fundamental ideological connection with the progressive movement currently at the nation's helm. This synergy, he added, has already translated into significant benefits for Anambra State, including federal collaborations on crucial infrastructural development and initiatives designed to spur economic growth.
The statement further clarified APGA’s electoral stance, affirming that while the party maintains firm control over Anambra State, its position for the state in the upcoming elections remains resolute: “In Anambra, it is Tinubu for President, APGA for Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly.”
The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance conveyed its heartfelt congratulations, stating, “The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance heartily congratulates our National Leader and Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on his well-deserved appointment as the Anambra State Coordinator of the President Bola Tinubu 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.”
The party further elaborated on the significance of the appointment: “This appointment is a testament to Governor Soludo’s exemplary leadership, his uncommon commitment to progressive ideals, and his consistent advocacy for a strategic partnership between APGA and the Federal Government for the collective good of Ndi Anambra and Ndigbo at large.”
APGA reiterated its electoral strategy, noting, “As a party, APGA has made its position clear. At our National Executive Committee meeting and during Mr President’s working visit to Anambra on May 8, 2025, we formally adopted President Bola Tinubu as our consensus Presidential Candidate for the 2027 general election. In line with this resolution, APGA did not field a presidential candidate for the 2027 election.”
Reaffirming its core philosophy, the statement added, “Soludo’s mantra that ‘Progressives are Working Together’ is not just a slogan, but a statement of historical truth. APGA, as the first truly progressive party in Nigeria, shares ideological DNA with the progressive movement at the centre.”
The party also highlighted the tangible outcomes of this collaboration, stating, “This synergy has already yielded tangible dividends for Anambra State, including federal collaboration on critical infrastructural interventions and economic development enablers.”
Concluding its definitive position on the forthcoming polls, APGA reaffirmed, “While APGA remains firmly in control of Anambra State, our position remains: In Anambra, it is Tinubu for President, APGA for Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly.”
The party expressed strong confidence in Governor Soludo’s capabilities, asserting, “We are confident that Governor Soludo will bring his intellectual depth, organisational capacity, and wide acceptability across the South-East to galvanise massive support for President Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.” The statement concluded with an enthusiastic declaration: “Indeed, Progressives are Working Together! Congratulations to ‘Oluatuegwu’ Anambra, and to all of us in APGA!”
