Full Story
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced key leadership changes within his administration, naming Bashorun Akinwole, widely known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff. Concurrently, Mrs. Aderonke Adedayo received approval to serve as the Director-General of the Due Process Office.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, were communicated through letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde. This information was disclosed in a statement released on Monday in Ibadan, the state capital, by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
Bashorun Akinwole, a seasoned grassroots politician, previously chaired the state's Local Government Service Commission. Mrs. Adedayo, who currently holds the position of Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies, will now manage her existing responsibilities alongside her new role as Director-General. Governor Makinde extended his congratulations to both appointees, charging them to execute their duties with unwavering loyalty, commitment, and dedication to the service of Oyo State.
These new appointments come on the heels of the resignation of the immediate past Chief of Staff, Honourable Segun Ogunwuyi. PUNCH Online reported that Ogunwuyi officially stepped down from his role on Monday, October 12, 2026, the same date his resignation letter was submitted.
In his letter, Ogunwuyi, a former lawmaker in both the State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, stated, “I respectfully write to resign my appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, with effect from today, 12th October, 2026.” He further expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve, highlighting his pride in the collective accomplishments of the administration.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” Ogunwuyi wrote. He concluded by reaffirming his “highest esteem and unwavering loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” Ogunwuyi is among several aides who have departed Governor Makinde's administration over the past two months.
