Ekiti PDP Chieftain Applauds Oyebanji's 100 Security Vehicle Donation

A prominent figure of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, has extended commendation to Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his administration's recent distribution of 100 operational vehicles to various security outfits within the state. Oluyede, who was the PDP’s candidate in the June 20 governorship election, described this move as a substantial investment aimed at bolstering Ekiti State’s overall security framework.

Speaking from Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, Dr. Oluyede, who also convenes the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda, highlighted that the provision of these vehicles would significantly improve the mobility, visibility, and rapid response capabilities of security personnel across Ekiti. He urged the state's security agencies to make optimal use of this new equipment to enhance the protection of lives and property, thereby fostering peace throughout the state.

Oluyede stressed that ensuring the safety of citizens and their possessions is a collective responsibility that all political leaders and stakeholders must uphold, irrespective of their party affiliations. He stated, “The Oyebanji administration’s decision to supply vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services, and various local security outfits clearly demonstrates the high priority placed on the safety of Ekiti residents.”

Further expressing his appreciation, the PDP chieftain added, “I applaud Governor Oyebanji for this crucial intervention in our dear state’s security sector. Security forms the bedrock upon which meaningful development can thrive. Without a peaceful and safe environment, our people cannot fully benefit from government initiatives, businesses will struggle, and investors will lack the confidence to commit resources.”

He clarified that “The provision of these 100 operational vehicles is, therefore, more than just acquiring vehicles. It represents an investment in empowering our security agencies to respond more effectively to emergencies, conduct improved patrols, and maintain a robust security presence across all our communities.”

Dr. Oluyede appealed to the security agencies to view this support as a call to heightened responsibility. He emphasized the necessity of deploying the vehicles efficiently and maintaining them properly to ensure they serve the populace for an extended period. He also underscored the critical need for stronger collaboration among the different security agencies, stating, “Intelligence sharing, rapid response, and coordinated operations are vital for sustaining the peace that Ekiti is renowned for.”

The PDP stalwart also acknowledged the sacrifices and unwavering dedication of Ekiti security operatives who work under challenging conditions to protect citizens, asserting that they deserve both government support and community cooperation. He called upon traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organizations, religious bodies, and residents across all 16 local government areas to continue assisting security agencies with valuable information that can aid in crime prevention and community protection.

“Government holds the responsibility to furnish the necessary equipment and institutional backing, while security agencies are responsible for deploying these resources professionally,” Oluyede remarked. “Citizens, in turn, have a responsibility to cooperate with security agencies and provide credible information. This collaborative approach is how we can collectively build a safer and more prosperous Ekiti,” he concluded.

He voiced confidence that ongoing investments in security, infrastructure, human capital development, and economic opportunities would significantly contribute to the state’s long-term progress.

It is recalled that Governor Oyebanji had, on Monday, officially handed over 100 operational vehicles to security agencies. This initiative is part of broader efforts to fortify security operations, enhance emergency response times, and improve the mobility of security personnel. The governor had also indicated that this intervention is intended to support the eventual establishment of the proposed Ekiti State Police.
