Seyi Law Mocks Peter Obi's Financial Claims Using Tinubu's Lagos Treasury Record

Comedian Seyi Law recently stirred up significant discussion on social media through his Instagram page, where he directly targeted Peter Obi. Obi, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is widely known for consistently emphasizing his record of financial prudence during his tenure as Anambra State governor. He frequently asserts that upon the conclusion of his governorship in March 2014, he left behind over $150 million and N36 billion in state investments and savings.

In a clear challenge to Obi's often-repeated narrative, Seyi Law uploaded an old newspaper article. This clipping reported that when Bola Ahmed Tinubu concluded his term as Lagos State governor in May 2007, he had left N27 billion in the state treasury. Seyi Law then drew a contrast, highlighting that Tinubu has never leveraged these specific financial figures as part of his political campaigns. He concluded his post with the statement, “some people will not allow us rest,” a pointed jab at Obi's persistent references to his financial achievements.

The comedian's post quickly generated a wide spectrum of reactions across various social media platforms. These critics argued that there was no valid basis for comparison between the economic conditions and governance periods of Peter Obi in Anambra and Bola Tinubu in Lagos.
