NNPP Clarifies Stance: No Coalition Deals Ahead of 2027 Elections

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has issued a stern warning to the public regarding individuals impersonating its candidates and leaders in the run-up to the 2027 general elections. The party also emphatically stated that it has not entered into any coalition or collaborative agreement with any other political group in preparation for the upcoming 2027 polls.

This clarification was made public through a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by the party's Founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam. Dr. Aniebonam revealed that the NNPP leadership is aware of certain individuals, previously expelled from the party and whose expulsion has been upheld by court judgments and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who are now parading themselves as party leaders. Their alleged intention is to defraud unsuspecting political parties and candidates.

Describing the NNPP as an "independent" entity, Aniebonam advised any individual or organization that may have been deceived by these impostors to demand a refund directly from them. He stated, "All contestants, coalitions, or political parties who may have been duped should go back to the impostors for a refund of the money paid as contestants’ fees or for alliance."

He further emphasized the party's standalone position, asserting, "The authentic NNPP with basket of fruits logo is not a member of any coalition. It stands to reason that as a national political party, we are independent." Aniebonam indicated that if the need arises for strategic alliances with other political parties concerning the 2027 general elections, the NNPP would make such decisions public.

To avoid any ambiguity, Dr. Aniebonam listed the authorized officials who possess the mandate to speak and make informed decisions on behalf of the NNPP, as recognized by INEC. These officials include: Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, who serves as Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Dr. Agbo Major, the National Chairman; Mr. Oginni Olaposi, the National Secretary; Prince Toyese, the National Treasurer; and Aisha Kade Onyia, the National Woman Leader.
