Full Story
Abuja, FCT – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially inaugurated Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF) during a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The swearing-in event took place on Thursday, August 27.
This formal induction follows closely on the heels of Enitan's appointment, which was publicly announced by the Presidency on August 19, 2026, designating him as the successor to Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack. His tenure as HoCSF was slated to commence on August 27.
Ahead of his official assumption of duty, Mr. Enitan, alongside his predecessor, had paid a courtesy visit to President Tinubu at the State House on Friday, August 21. This visit formed part of the preparatory steps for his transition into the leadership role of the federal civil service.
Hailing from Osun State, Enitan was identified as the most senior permanent secretary within the federal civil service at the time of his selection. His extensive career includes serving as a permanent secretary for an impressive seven years and seven months, with previous assignments in the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the Office of the Vice-President. Before his elevation to HoCSF, he held the position of permanent secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education.
Now at the helm, Mr. Enitan is tasked with steering the federal civil service as the current administration pushes forward with its reform agenda. These reforms are specifically designed to enhance efficiency, foster greater professionalism, and improve service delivery across all government departments. President Tinubu has explicitly charged the new Head of Service to build upon existing reforms and innovations, while also deepening the commitment to professionalism and efficiency throughout the entire service.
