Kano Court Remands Newlywed Over Husband's Alleged Stabbing Death

A Magistrate's Court in Kano State has ordered the remand of Khadija Sa'idu, a recently married woman, at a correctional centre. This follows allegations of culpable homicide in connection with the demise of her husband, Malam Auwal Adam.
Presiding over the court, Magistrate Haulatu Magaji Kankarofi issued the remand order after police brought the suspect before the bench. Sa'idu faces accusations of fatally st@bbing her husband in the chest and neck at his home.
The incident reportedly occurred at their residence in Hayin Lawal, Rimin Kebe, within the Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state. The prosecution informed the court that the alleged attack stemmed from a disagreement between the couple regarding Khadija's desire to attend a social gathering, which her husband reportedly refused.
According to the details presented in court, Khadija had sought permission from Auwal to attend an event, but he declined her request. Following this dispute, the prosecution alleges that the suspect attacked her husband while he was asleep on a couch, inflicting st@b wounds to his chest.
The court heard that Auwal Adam was immediately rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital. There, medical personnel reportedly confirmed his death, attributing it to the injuries he sustained during the alleged assault.
During Thursday's court proceedings, the prosecutor informed the Magistrate that the case file had been forwarded to the state counsel. They are currently awaiting legal advice to determine the subsequent legal steps. The case has been adjourned until September 8 for further mention.
