Delta Governor Oborevwori Declares N503k Monthly Salary Amidst Higher Civil Service Pay

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, recently made public his monthly remuneration, stating that he receives N503,000. This disclosure, made on Thursday, August 20, in Asaba, the state capital, also shed light on the salaries of other top government officials within the state.

According to Governor Oborevwori, Permanent Secretaries in Delta State currently earn N900,000 monthly. He further revealed that the Head of Service commands a monthly salary of N1 million. The governor explained that the salaries for Permanent Secretaries were adjusted upwards following complaints that some directors were earning amounts nearly identical to theirs.

In his remarks, Governor Oborevwori stated, "When the Permanent Secretaries said most of the Directors are receiving almost the same thing with them, we increased their money. Today, Permanent Secretaries… Your salary is 900, my salary is 503,000, Governor’s salary. Head of Service is one million. It’s clear. So, you know some of them don’t want their husbands to know how much they are receiving." This statement underscores the rationale behind the salary adjustments for senior civil servants in the state.
