The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has extended his warm congratulations to the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his successful re-election. In a series of posts on social media, Keyamo joined the multitude of well-wishers who have been congratulating Adeleke on his historic victory in the Osun governorship election. Keyamo also took the opportunity to acknowledge Adeleke's public endorsement of President Bola Tinubu's bid for a second term in office in 2027, emphasizing the importance of upholding political agreements. As he put it, 'Huge congratulations to Governor Ademola Adeleke on his historic victory in the governorship election in Osun State. Thank you, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for the public and unequivocal endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 Presidential Election. You are a man of integrity and honour. Agreement is agreement.' The Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier declared Adeleke the winner of the election, which took place on Saturday. The State Returning Officer, Prof Joshua Ogunwole, announced the result at approximately 7:24 am on Sunday. Adeleke, who contested under the banner of the ACCORD party, secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 444,815 votes. In declaring the result, Ogunwole stated, 'Accredited voters, 1010684, total votes received by political parties, A, 511067, AA, 2308, AAC, 1458, ADC, 17180, ADP, 2946, APC, 444815, APGA, 1475, APM, 234, APP, 114, BP, 111, NNPP, 118, PRP, 83, SDP, 155, YPP, 534, ZLP, 2482, total valid votes, 985079, rejected votes, 207, total vote cast, 1,005,800.' Keyamo's congratulatory message is particularly significant in the context of Adeleke's earlier public expression of support for Tinubu's 2027 presidential ambition, with the minister underscoring the need to honour the understanding between the two political figures.
