Osun Decides 2026: Governor Adeleke Triumphs at His Polling Unit with 421 Votes

Scenes of jubilation erupted on Saturday as Ademola Adeleke, the current Osun State Governor and governorship candidate for the Accord Party, secured a significant victory at his specific polling unit during the ongoing gubernatorial election. Governor Adeleke successfully polled 421 votes at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, located within the Abogunde Compound in the Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State. Following the official announcement of the results at the unit, enthusiastic supporters of the governor were observed celebrating passionately.

Earlier in the day, PUNCH Online had reported that the three prominent candidates vying for the Osun governorship seat had each expressed strong assurances of emerging victorious as the polls progressed into the critical sorting and collation stages. Both the candidates and their respective supporters maintained high hopes of securing the electorate's mandate.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, after casting his vote at Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, also in Ede North Local Government Area on Saturday, had articulated his confidence in winning the governorship election. Similarly, Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) opposition candidate in Osun State, who voted at his Ward 09, Unit 011, Ikire, in the Irewole Local Government Area, also conveyed his certainty of triumph while speaking with journalists.

However, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Najeem Salaam, voiced concerns regarding the alleged non-recognition of his party agents in numerous areas across the state throughout Saturday’s election activities.

Meanwhile, an assessment by our correspondent of the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) IReV portal as of 5:24 PM on Saturday indicated that 1386 out of a total of 3,763 unit results had been successfully uploaded.
