Nigeria's Morality Crisis Worsens as Professors Aid Electoral Fraud - Peter Obi

Presidential candidate Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress has lamented the deepening morality crisis in Nigeria, citing the alarming trend of professors and clergymen collaborating to perpetuate bad governance. While addressing a gathering in Bauchi state on August 11, the former Anambra state governor reflected on his past experiences with the judiciary, noting that he had received favorable judgments from judges he had never met during his electoral dispute. Obi expressed dismay at the current state of affairs, where professors, who are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, are now complicit in rigging elections in favor of illiterates. 'I spent three years in court challenging my election, and five judges I had never met delivered judgments in my favor. This is something that cannot happen in today's Nigeria,' he stated. Obi further emphasized the gravity of the situation, pointing out that lawmakers have removed forgery as an offense in electoral matters, while Senior Advocates of Nigeria are defending forgery cases. He also criticized religious leaders for praying for the success of criminal politicians. 'We have a crisis on our hands, and it is evident in the way our judges now sing to the tune of those in power,' Obi said.
