PDP Chieftain's Wife Suffers Miscarriage After Attack by Suspected Thugs in Ebonyi

In a disturbing incident, Blessing Ngwuta, the wife of a prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Ebonyi State, has come forward with a harrowing tale of assault and loss. The 40-year-old woman alleged that she was brutally attacked by suspected political thugs at her family's residence in Ezza South Local Government Area, resulting in the loss of her four-month pregnancy. According to Ngwuta, the attackers, armed with an array of deadly weapons, stormed their compound while she was preparing food for her husband's visitors. The thugs, she claimed, vandalized vehicles, stole valuables, and assaulted several people, including herself. Ngwuta recounted the horrific moment when one of the attackers discovered her presence in the kitchen, leading to a vicious assault that left her with severe injuries. She was rushed to the hospital by her husband, Christopher Ngwuta, a 73-year-old PDP chieftain, where she was treated for her injuries and later discharged. The elderly politician has described the attack as a politically motivated act, stating that it will not deter him from supporting the PDP or its 2027 governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with the PDP accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating a campaign of intimidation against opposition members and supporters in the state. The APC, however, has denied any involvement in the attacks, with its chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha, dismissing the allegations and insisting that Governor Francis Nwifuru does not condone political violence.
