Osun election integrity threatened by voter intimidation tactics warns Oyintiloye

An All Progressives Congress (APC) prominent member in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, on Sunday, issued a strong caution against actions that could undermine the integrity of the democratic process leading up to the state’s forthcoming governorship election. He specifically called on security operatives to take decisive action against any individual or group attempting to disrupt the electoral exercise.
Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye highlighted difficulties faced by many eligible voters during the Permanent Voter's Card (PVC) collection exercise. He explained that making the PVC collection process simpler would significantly boost voter participation and allow more citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote during the election.
The former legislator encouraged the electorate not to be disheartened by the current cumbersome procedures. He urged those who have not yet collected their PVCs to do so promptly and turn out in large numbers to cast their votes peacefully for their preferred candidates. Oyintiloye also advised voters not to succumb to fear despite reports of intimidation.
He emphasized, "No individual or group should be allowed to undermine the democratic process through acts capable of causing panic or discouraging lawful participation in the election."
Furthermore, Oyintiloye appealed to security agencies to maintain vigilance and professionalism in ensuring the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the election. He stressed the importance of bringing to justice anyone found engaging in violence, intimidation, or any other act that could disrupt the electoral process.
Regarding the APC's chances in the upcoming election, Oyintiloye expressed confidence that the party's governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, also known as AMBO, would emerge victorious. He attributed this optimism to what he described as widespread acceptance and strong support for the candidate across Osun State. According to Oyintiloye, the significant goodwill and enthusiasm observed among residents are clear indicators of solid confidence in the APC candidate, suggesting the party is well-positioned for a win.
