US VP JD Vance, Usha Vance Unveil Newborn Son Alec Neel

The family of US Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance has joyfully announced the arrival of their newborn son, Alec Neel Vance, expanding their household to six members. Alec Neel now joins his older siblings, Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.
Vice President Vance shared the exciting news across his social media platforms, conveying his happiness with the statement: “Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.” He also extended his profound gratitude to the dedicated medical teams at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit for their exceptional care.
This birth marks a significant historical milestone, as it is the first instance in over 150 years that a sitting U.S. Vice President and Second Lady have welcomed a child while in office. The last such event occurred in 1870, when Vice President Schuyler Colfax and his wife, Ellen Maria Colfax, also had a son.
As the Vance family adjusts to life with their new addition, they plan to spend additional time at a leased property in rural northern Virginia, specifically in Middleburg. This move is intended to offer their children a more serene environment, shielding them from the constant public scrutiny that often accompanies life in Washington, D.C. Despite their time in Middleburg, the family will continue to maintain their official residence at the Naval Observatory.
Second Lady Usha Vance recently offered insights into the challenges of raising children under intense public observation. She remarked, “Everything that we do is in the public eye. We try not to put them in circumstances where they’ll be exposed and someday say, ‘Oh, you embarrassed me.’ So we try to keep most of what they do private, but when we are in public with them, we just let them be kids and let what happens happen.”
