El-Rufai's Family Debunks Fake Letter to ADC Leaders

A statement released on Thursday by Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, son of the former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed a letter circulating on social media as fake. The letter, which was purportedly signed by El-Rufai, was addressed to the National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). However, the El-Rufai family has come out to deny the authenticity of the document, describing it as a desperate attempt to cause confusion and division. The fake letter, dated July 14, 2026, and titled 'Urgent Message', was said to have raised concerns over the nomination of Isah Ashiru as the ADC governorship candidate in Kaduna State. According to the letter, Ashiru's nomination was questionable because he allegedly failed to complete the party's online membership registration before the April 30, 2026 deadline, a requirement stated in the party's constitution. The El-Rufai family has urged the public to disregard the letter, stating that neither the content nor the handwriting belonged to the former governor. The family described the letter as 'an instance of the most primitive politics' and called on the sponsors of the fake document to be ashamed of themselves. The purported letter had called on the party's national and state leadership to intervene and review Ashiru's nomination, but the El-Rufai family has insisted that the document is fake and should be ignored.
