Nasarawa State Govt Sees Major Shake-Up as Six Commissioners Get the Axe

In a significant move, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle, resulting in the removal of six commissioners from their positions in the State Executive Council. This development was announced by the Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Barrister Labaran Shuaibu-Magaji, shortly after a meeting of the Nasarawa State Executive Council held at the Government House in Lafia. The affected commissioners were those overseeing the Ministries of Security, Women Affairs, Works, Science and Technology, Information, and Lands. According to the SSG, the Governor's decision to let go of the commissioners was not due to poor performance but rather to bring in fresh ideas and energy into the administration. The SSG expressed appreciation for the outgoing commissioners' dedication, efficiency, and valuable contributions during their tenure, stating that the adjustment aims to 'rejig the system, inject fresh energy into the administration, and ensure that the mandate given to Gov. Abdullahi Sule is fully delivered within the remaining period of this administration.' The former cabinet members are still considered valued partners of the government and may be assigned other tasks in the future. Meanwhile, the State Executive Council also discussed ways to maximize state revenues, particularly by tapping into the growing lithium sector in Nasarawa. This follows the recent inauguration of one of Africa's largest lithium processing plants in the state, which was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu. The government is working on strategies to harness the economic potential of the lithium processing industry and will announce specific measures soon.
