The Kwara State Chapter of the Law Officers Association of Nigeria has given the state government a seven-day ultimatum to address their grievances regarding unpaid statutory allowances and the non-harmonisation of their salaries and conditions of service with those of magistrates. In a letter dated July 20, 2026, addressed to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the association expressed its intention to embark on an indefinite strike if their demands are not met by July 26. The letter, signed by the Acting Chairman, Keyinde Ayorinde, and the Secretary, Tolulope Oniyide, highlighted the law officers' repeated appeals to the governor and the Office of the Head of Service for the payment of outstanding allowances, which have been met with indifference. The outstanding entitlements include the balance of the 50 per cent furniture allowance for 2020 and robe allowances for the years 2024, 2025, and 2026. The association is also seeking the implementation of the harmonisation of salaries, allowances, and general conditions of service for state counsel with those of magistrates in the Kwara State Judiciary, in line with the 2005 harmonisation approval. The law officers stated that their demands are connected to their welfare and the critical nature of their duties in the administration of justice and the functioning of government.
