Oyo APC Firm: No Changes to National Assembly Candidate List

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday reaffirmed that its roster of candidates for the National Assembly elections slated for next year remains conclusive and unaltered. According to a press release issued in Ibadan by the party's Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the list was generated by the party's National Working Committee (NWC), which had meticulously reviewed the outcomes of the primaries conducted in May of this current year.
Sadare elaborated that the APC's national secretariat had already transmitted the names of its three Senatorial District and fourteen House of Representatives candidates in Oyo State to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, in line with legal requirements. This submission was subsequently followed by the individual candidates completing their Nomination Forms at the party's national secretariat in Abuja.
The Publicity Secretary expressed considerable surprise at reports indicating that "some aspirants who did not secure the desired party tickets were reported to be misleading the public with fake claims through social media even as their supporters do more to create crisis within the party." He stressed that, "For the avoidance of doubt, nothing has changed from what was made public last week."
He then proceeded to list the confirmed candidates submitted to INEC: Senator Yunus Akintunde for Oyo Central, Hon. Aderemi Oseni for Oyo South, and Mrs. Hannah Ogunesan for Oyo North Senatorial Districts. The confirmed House of Representatives candidates include: Hon. Akeem Adeyemi (Afijio/Atiba/Oyo East/Oyo West), Hon. Segun Odebunmi (Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere), and Hon. Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem (Atisbo/Saki East/Saki West).
Other candidates named are Hon. Akin Alabi (Egbeda/Ona-Ara), Hon. Olafisoye Akinmoyede (Akinyele/Lagelu), Hon. Folake Olunloyo-Oshinowo (Ibadan North West/South West), Hon. Tolulope Akande-Shadipe (Oluyole), Hon. Olamijuwon Alao-Akala (Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire), Hon. Olatubosun Oladele (Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope), Hon. Umar Farouk Alao (Ibadan North), Hon. Ibrahim Iyiola (Ibadan North East/Ibadan South East), Hon. Sarafa Olaoniye (Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North), Hon. Saheed Adejare Yusuf (Kajola/Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa), and Hon. Yusuf Asimiyu Osuolale (Ibarapa East/Ido).
Sadare seized the opportunity to remind all aspirants and stakeholders that the deadline for political parties to nominate candidates has already passed. He concluded with a stern warning: “To this end, we urge individuals parading themselves as APC candidates illegally to desist from doing so or be ready for the consequences of their actions. There cannot be two candidates for a single ticket, and as Democrats, one should make it a do-or-die affair,” the APC statement concluded.
