His Royal Majesty Michael Sado, the Okuokpellagbe of Okpella Kingdom in Edo State, has announced plans aimed at reinforcing the connection between his traditional stool and the various communities under his domain. This initiative was detailed in a statement released on Saturday, outlining the schedule of events for his first anniversary since ascending the throne.

The monarch stated that visits to ruling areas within the kingdom are intended to foster a stronger bond with his people and build trust between the traditional leadership and community members. The anniversary programme is set to commence on Sunday, featuring a diverse range of cultural, religious, and community development activities.

The statement confirmed that preparations are complete for the Okuokpellagbe’s first coronation anniversary. It highlighted that the celebrations are designed to bring together indigenes and friends of Okpella, alongside other traditional rulers and dignitaries. Organisers view this occasion as a crucial opportunity to showcase the kingdom’s rich cultural heritage and promote unity among its inhabitants.

As part of these activities, the Okuokpellagbe will undertake tours of various administrative zones within the kingdom. This strategic move is specifically geared towards strengthening the relationship between the traditional institution and its constituent communities.

Further activities include the inspection and official commissioning of selected community infrastructure projects. Special inter-faith prayers will also be conducted by Muslim and Christian faithful, seeking peace and prosperity for the kingdom. Additionally, new initiatives focused on supporting economic and social advancement are slated for launch.

Among the projects earmarked for inauguration are the MCC Road, the Police Area Command, Okpella Finance Limited, and the Okpella Vigilante Office. The anniversary festivities will also see the official launch of the Okpella Royal Foundation and an empowerment scheme designed to benefit selected women in the community.

The statement further indicated that the anniversary celebrations will serve as a platform to exhibit the cultural richness of the Okpella people through traditional music, dances, and other indigenous performances. It is also expected to be a significant homecoming event for both indigenes and allies of the kingdom. The monarch conveyed his optimism that these planned activities would significantly enhance peace, unity, and overall community development throughout the kingdom.
