The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commended the peaceful conduct of the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency bye-election in Kano State. According to the Kano State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Abdu Zango, the election was smooth and devoid of any form of violence or rancour. Zango made this statement while interacting with journalists at Warawa, the headquarters of Warawa Local Government Area, after monitoring the election. He attributed the success of the election to the meticulous planning and coordination of security agencies, which led to a massive turnout of voters, especially in Warawa. The resident electoral commissioner also praised the performance of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), stating that it functioned perfectly without any incidents of malfunction. Three political parties, namely the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), and Allied Peoples Movement (APM), participated in the election. Zango expressed his satisfaction with the election process, saying, 'So far, so good. You have seen things for yourself. The Warawa and Dawakin Kudu bye-election has gone on very well. No violence, no rancour.' He also commended the lead agency, the police, and other security agencies for their role in ensuring the election's success. The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu-Bakori, corroborated Zango's statement, saying that no arrest or recovery was made during the exercise. Adamu-Bakori attributed the peaceful nature of the election to the synergy among security agencies and the realization by citizens that violence does not yield positive outcomes. Earlier, the Chairman of Warawa Local Government Area, Lamido Sanusi-Ahmad, applauded the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir-Yusuf, INEC, and security agencies for the hitch-free exercise. The bye-election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the sudden death of Muhammad Danjuma-Hassan, the member representing Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
