Ekiti Polling Unit Witnesses Drama as Voters Chase EFCC Team

A notable incident occurred at Polling Unit 10, Ward B, in Iyin-Ekiti, during the ongoing Ekiti State Governorship Election, where voters reportedly confronted and ultimately compelled operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to depart the area. A video clip, which circulated on The Nation's official X account on Saturday, captured the scene as the EFCC squad arrived at the polling unit while voting was underway, ostensibly to observe for any suspected vote-buying activities.
However, the presence of the anti-graft agency's team was met with considerable opposition from the electorate. Voters at the unit immediately questioned the basis for their deployment, emphatically demanding that the operatives vacate the premises. Several individuals directly engaged the EFCC personnel, asserting that there was no evidence of vote-buying taking place at their specific polling unit. This confrontation briefly escalated tensions at the voting centre. Following the standoff, the EFCC operatives withdrew from the area, after which the electoral process continued without further interruption.
