New: #EkitiDecides2026: Adaramodu Labels Vote-Buying Claims False, Lauds INEC

Senator Yemi Adaramodu, who represents the Ekiti South Senatorial District, has vehemently denied accusations of vote-buying against members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during the ongoing governorship election in Ekiti State. The senator categorized these allegations as untrue and mischievous, suggesting they are being propagated by members of opposition parties.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday, after casting his vote at Unit 1, Ward 11, Ilawe Ekiti, Senator Adaramodu asserted that those making such claims belong to political parties with little public support. He stated, “You can see, you can look around. Have you ever seen anybody retailing votes for sale? Have you seen anybody exchanging votes for money? Where is it? Because when somebody is about to lose an election, you see all these kinds of frivolous allegations. They have bought votes. They have done this, they have done that. Now you see people smiling. You are here, you see people smiling. They don’t look like people who are forced to vote, who are coerced to vote, whose votes were bought. These are people who have done what they should do as part of their civic responsibility as citizens of Ekiti State. They have done that. So, I don’t see it, I have never heard of it. I am a senator, I have been in the progressive party for a very long time. I think I should be one of the critical custodians of the APC. APC will never, because the only thing we need to do to convince the electorate is to perform very well, to do very well in government. After doing all those things, then we wait for D-Day. And D-Day is always election day. So, why do we have to? We do not. You know, every baby that loses a biscuit will always cry and begin giving excuses. So, for us in the APC, we don’t have any reason to do that. We have never done that, and we will never do that. If anybody has any evidence, they should let us know, they should show us. Maybe the other people, the other side, because they are not popular, they are not on the ground, maybe they wanted to buy votes and nobody was ready to sell votes to them.”
Furthermore, the legislator extended his commendation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and all other stakeholders involved for ensuring a seamless and trouble-free electoral process.
