NDC Reaffirms Supremacy, Introduces Code of Conduct for Officials

In a bid to strengthen its internal structures and promote accountability, the Nigeria Democratic Congress has outlined a series of resolutions. The party's National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, disclosed this in a statement following the second meeting of the National Executive Committee. The NDC is determined to establish itself as a robust and enduring institution, with a strong emphasis on party supremacy. According to the party, its primary goal is to ensure that governments elected under its platform remain accountable to the party's structure. To achieve this, the party has stipulated that all programs, policies, and appointments - except for personal staff - must be made in consultation with the party structure. Furthermore, the NDC has stressed the importance of members prioritizing the collective objectives of the organization over personal interests. The party has also directed that all affiliated groups and non-governmental organizations must operate under its guidance and control. In addition, the NDC has approved the development of a comprehensive Code of Conduct for party officials and candidates, to be headed by the National Legal Adviser. The party has also inaugurated a National Reconciliation Committee to engage and reconcile aggrieved members. The NDC has emphasized that it is being built as a long-term political institution, rather than a vehicle for individual ambitions. The party has urged its members to remain committed to its growth and sustainability, with total allegiance to the party and the national interest. On financial management, the party has pledged to enforce strict accountability among its officers and candidates, with all party funds to be used strictly for party business. The NDC has also directed that all funds raised by candidates and contributions made to campaign accounts must be fully disclosed through designated party channels.
