The University of Benin Teaching Hospital recently organised a dinner to celebrate the election of Prof. Afekhide Ernest Omoti as the new president of the Nigerian Medical Association. In her congratulatory remarks, the Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, praised Omoti's exceptional qualities and dedication to healthcare advancement, noting that his election was a well-deserved recognition of his academic excellence and professional ethics. Ize-Iyamu highlighted Omoti's significant contributions as a Professor of Ophthalmology and Honorary Consultant at UBTH, stating that his impact has been far-reaching through clinical expertise and mentorship. Prior to his election as NMA National President, Omoti served as the Chairman of the Edo State Branch of the NMA and Chairman, National Eye Health Committee.
