PDP releases Reps, Senate candidates in Oyo

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, has released the list of its candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a statement made available to The Guardian by the party’s State Organising Secretary, Mr. Stephen Olaniyi, in Ibadan on Friday, the party announced its senatorial and House of Representatives standard-bearers, who emerged through primaries conducted across the state. According to the statement, the candidates are expected to represent the party in their respective constituencies in the forthcoming elections, with the party expressing confidence in their capacity to deliver victory at the polls. For Oyo South Senatorial District, the candidate is Sarumi Aliyu Bolanle.

In Oyo Central Senatorial District, the party picked Gbadegeshin Victoria Omolara, while Abdullahi Khadijah Iyabode emerged as the candidate for Oyo North Senatorial District. The statement noted that the selection reflects the outcome of competitive primaries held across the three senatorial districts of the state.

The PDP also unveiled 14 candidates for the House of Representatives seats in Oyo State. They include Mr. Samson Fatola (Ibadan South-West/Ibadan North-West); Mr. Idris Olanrewaju (Oyo East/Oyo West/Atiba/Afijio); and Mr. Olusegun Akinloye (Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere).

Others are Mrs. Elizabeth Alao (Ido/Ibarapa East); Mr. Rasaki Haruna (Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North); and Mr. Rotimi Ajumobi (Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola).

Also listed are Mr. Adedotun Adebayo (Oluyole); Mr. Olusoji Olusegun (Ibadan North); and Mr. Solomon Odeyemi (Egbeda/Ona-Ara). Others include Mrs. Victoria Akinyemi (Akinyele/Lagelu); Mr. Abdul-Lateef Adeniran (Irepo/Olorunsogo/Orelope); and Mrs. Ramota Azeez (Atisbo/Saki East/Saki West). Also on the list are Dr. (Mrs.) Adejoke Adekanmi Akinseye (Ibadan South-East/Ibadan North-East) and Mrs. Ajoke Okanlawon (Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire). The party said the emergence of the candidates signals a new phase of mobilisation ahead of the general elections and called on members across the state to close ranks and support the standard-bearers to ensure electoral success.
