APC Ticket for Sokoto Governorship — Governor Aliyu Secures

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially endorsed Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, as its gubernatorial candidate for the forthcoming 2027 general election. This development was made public by the Chairman of the APC Governorship Affirmation Committee, Muhammad Mukhtar Birniwa, following the affirmation of Governor Aliyu as the party's flag bearer. In his remarks after the affirmation, Governor Aliyu expressed his resolve to build upon the people-centered projects his administration has executed over the past three years. He emphasized that his administration will continue to prioritize issues such as security, infrastructure, religious affairs, and social welfare. Governor Aliyu assured the people of Sokoto State that his administration will do everything possible to support security agencies in combating banditry and other criminal activities. He also promised to deliver more dividends of democracy if re-elected for a second term, stating, 'I am committed to serving the people even better than we have done in the last three years.' Furthermore, Governor Aliyu appealed to the people of the state to continue supporting government policies and programmes, and thanked them for their sustained support, prayers, and goodwill towards his administration. He also guaranteed fair treatment for new members of the APC, ensuring they are carried along without discrimination. Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the APC leader in Sokoto State, commended Governor Aliyu for his impressive performance, citing the execution of various developmental projects across the state. The Sokoto State APC Chairman, Haruna Adiya, highlighted some of the governor's achievements, including the payment of accumulated gratuities, prompt payment of salaries, youth empowerment initiatives, and the promotion of Islamic affairs. Birniwa praised Governor Aliyu's transformative agenda and the cordial relationship between the governor and Senator Wamakko, describing it as key to the successes recorded by the APC-led administration in the state.
