Martha Stewart Speaks on Joy of Being Single at 85

At the ripe age of 85, renowned lifestyle entrepreneur and television personality Martha Stewart has expressed her delight in being single. In a recent interview with People magazine, where she recreated the cover of her iconic 1995 issue, Stewart shared her thoughts on life after her marriage ended in 1990. Over the years, her perspective on relationships has undergone significant changes. As she put it, 'The older you get, the less you really need a mate, I think. I wouldn’t want to be beleaguered with an older, ill person.' Stewart's active social life is filled with friendships, though she doesn't necessarily engage in traditional dating. 'I've got lots of friends,' she stated, also joking about her tendency to leave parties early, saying, 'They know if they invite me to a party, I'm not going to be there for long.' Reflecting on her views about marriage and relationships, Stewart no longer feels envious of her married friends as she once did after her divorce. Instead, she values the freedom and independence that come with being single. Interestingly, Stewart has also made it clear that when it comes to romance, she prefers the company of younger men, indicating a preference that has become a part of her personal life's narrative.
