Nigerians in UK to Get Passport Boost as NIS Deploys Special Team

In a move to enhance passport services for Nigerians living abroad, the Nigeria Immigration Service has announced the deployment of a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom. This initiative, as directed by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, aims to simplify and expedite the process of passport applications for citizens in the diaspora. The team, led by the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, is set to arrive in the UK on August 10, 2026, and will collaborate with the Nigerian High Commission to facilitate the processing and issuance of pending, new, and renewal passport applications. The intervention team will also conduct passport enrolment and processing in various cities across the UK, allowing applicants to access the service from different parts of the country. To benefit from this initiative, applicants must present their completed application forms and proof of payment during the enrolment process. The NIS has advised applicants to await the official announcement of the detailed schedule, including designated cities, dates, venues, and enrolment times, before proceeding to any location. For further information and updates, applicants are urged to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission. The NIS has also confirmed that its digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, will remain operational during the intervention exercise, and the home delivery service will also be available to applicants. The Nigeria Immigration Service has reiterated its commitment to delivering efficient, transparent, and responsive passport services to Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.
