Russian Missiles Hit Ukraine's Chornomorets Stadium, Kills Three

These latest strikes occurred just hours after the Chornomorets Stadium, a major sports venue in Ukraine, was damaged in a Russian attack. The stadium was set to host a top-flight football match, but the attack has raised concerns about the safety of such events. According to Ukrainian officials, the overnight missile barrage targeted areas around the Ukrainian capital, triggering air raid alerts and causing multiple explosions. In the village of Pukhivka, two adults and a child lost their lives, while at least three other people were injured, as reported by Tymur Tkachenko, the head of the regional military administration. The attack also caused significant damage to several houses and vehicles, with falling debris setting a non-residential building on fire. Emergency crews were swiftly deployed to combat the fires and assess the extent of the damage. The Ukrainian State Emergency Service released images showing the destruction of buildings and garages, and confirmed that the number of casualties was still being confirmed. Russian officials claimed that the strikes were aimed at a facility involved in the production of Ukrainian military equipment. This attack comes on the heels of another major Russian missile barrage on Kyiv earlier in the week, which resulted in the deaths of at least 21 people and damaged dozens of homes. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly appealed to allies for additional air-defence systems, arguing that enhanced missile-interception capabilities could help prevent further civilian deaths. Meanwhile, Ukraine has continued to carry out long-range strikes against targets inside Russia, including oil facilities, as the conflict between the two sides intensifies amidst stalled peace talks.
