A devastating incident has occurred at the border of Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in North Africa, resulting in the loss of over 90 lives. The president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, has strongly condemned the mass border crossing, describing it as an 'atrocity'. Vivas expressed his deep concern and sadness over the tragedy, stating that the people of Ceuta are filled with a mix of emotions, including worry and anguish. According to Vivas, the local residents view the incident not merely as a migration crisis, but as a direct attack on Spain's territorial integrity. He further suggested that the events may have been orchestrated or encouraged by Morocco. The defence minister of Spain, Margarita Robles, also hinted at Morocco's involvement, urging the Moroccan government to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. In recent days, an estimated 69,500 people who had crossed into Ceuta have returned to Morocco, while around 2,500 individuals are still believed to be in the territory. The incident has sparked a significant political crisis within the European Union, with some member states criticizing Spain's handling of the situation.
