Rita Edochie: I Proudly Tapped May Edochie's Grace for My Page Growth

Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has openly confronted social media users who accused her of capitalizing on the marital challenges faced by her nephew, Yul Edochie, and his estranged wife, May Edochie, to expand her online following. Taking to her Instagram page this morning, Mrs. Edochie articulated a strong defense of her actions.

She commenced her statement by affirming, "QUEEN MAY YUL EDOCHIE HAS BEEN THE FOUNDATION OF THIS JOURNEY. TO QUEEN MAY YUL EDOCHIE...... SEE PERSON MUST USE PERSON TO GROW NOOOOOW... IF YOU NO USE YOUR MAMA WEH BORN YOU TO GROW, YOU FOR EXIST ??????". The actress challenged her detractors, stating that if they claimed she utilized "my great darling daughter Queen May Yul Edochie to grow my page," she would "proudly tell you I tapped from her beautiful grace and it's much better."

Edochie expressed strong disapproval of attributing her social media growth to what she termed an "insignificant content creator who spends all her time with another woman's husband, manufacturing babies like her womb is a factory machine." She condemned such suggestions as "disrespectful," asserting that acknowledging May Edochie's influence on her page's development would be "honourable enough."

The seasoned actress further emphasized her established presence and relevance on social media, predating the widely publicized marital issues. She encouraged her audience to review her historical posts from 2015 onwards to witness her consistent online activity. "YES, I WILL PROUDLY TELL YOU THAT I USED QUEEN MAY'S BEAUTIFUL GRACE TO GROW MY PAGE. AND WHAT EXACTLY IS WRONG WITH THAT? WHEN YOU FIND SOMETHING GOOD, SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL AND SOMETHING WORTH EMBRACING, YOU EMBRACE IT," she penned.

However, Rita Edochie drew a clear boundary, insisting that her extensive efforts and hard work should not be diminished by crediting her entire online success to someone who was "never the foundation of my journey." She explicitly stated, "I REFUSE TO GROW MY PAGE WITH THE DEV1L AND HER COHORTS." She reaffirmed her history of being "visible," "relevant," and actively "creating moments and building my audience long before this particular moment ever started."

Concluding her robust statement, Edochie frankly admitted, "YES QUEEN MAY'S GRACE GAVE ME AN EXTRA PUSH, I WILL SAY IT WITH MY FULL CHEST. I HAVE NO SHAME IN ASSOCIATING WITH BEAUTIFUL GRACE. IN FACT, I AM PROUD OF IT." Nevertheless, she sharply distinguished this from the notion of attributing her "entire page" to a "mere marital content creator, because as long as I know she is not a wife to anyone, is where I draw the line." She concluded by asserting her deep understanding of her own accomplishments: "I KNOW WHAT I HAVE BUILT, I KNOW WHERE I STAR."
